Driftwood Rain Chains/Mobils. Made to Order(MTO), One of a Kind(OOAK).The products used in these rain chains all come from the shores of Lake Champlain, VT and then are stung on copper which will never rust. Each piece is chosen for a variety of reasons but mainly for it's unique qualities. The stones at the bottom are either a hag stone, or a wishing stone. As the driftwood, wishing stones and hag stones used are only ever one of a kind you will find not two rain chains will ever be the same. Because they come from the lake there is no salt in the wood so it is not harmful to the birds. Driftwood that comes from the ocean when chewed on by a bird can cause brain swelling and sometimes even death due to the salt in the wood. Our pieces are locally sourced and never cut unlike our competitors who do it to help save on shipping costs, plus when the pieces are cut they should be treated to prevent the wood from rotting, where as ours are just naturally treated by the lake and do not have to go through that process at all. So it is a totally environmentally safe product.
A Rain chain is functional Art. You put it up on the corner of your house to prevent the crack in your foundation in place of your traditional downspout. Or some people will put them up in Gardens or just in the home because they love the look of the driftwood.
This Chain is 36"(3ft) in length and it is your choice to have it finished with either a hag stone(see below for a description) or a wishing stone(see below for a description)

Hag stones are stones that have a naturally occurring hole inside them. These stones are often found along the coastal points, beaches, streams and they occur from the elements beating down upon them over many years.
Some believe they possess powerful protective energy. Worn or carried, it would ward off evil spirits and protect the wearer from harm. Stones were hung from bedposts to prevent nightmares. If a stone broke, it was thought to have used its power to protect a life. These powerful stones are also reputed to bestow the gift of psychic sight upon anyone looking through the hole in the stone. Other’s also claim you can see Fairies from looking through the hag stones.
What is a wishing stone? It's a rock with a single perfectly unbroken stripe all the way around the circumference of the rock. For a rock to qualify as a true wishing rock, there can be no splits, no out runners, no faint second lines on the rock. Most of us have seen striped rocks, but to find one with just a single perfect line is not easy. Popular lore holds that if you keep a wishing rock in your pocket (or nearby) and make wishes on it, it will help your wishes come true.
